Danish Chamber Orchestra

Fischer met the Danish Chamber Orchestra for the first time in 1997. He soon initiated a series of Mozart recordings that would, in 2015, win the ensemble its first ICMA. In the space of two decades, Fischer had created one of the world’s most renowned orchestras for Viennese classicism out of a studio orchestra with its roots in light entertainment. Until 2015, the Danish Chamber Orchestra was an ensemble of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. Since going independent, it has maintained its stylistic versatility while taking its unusual, invigorating approach to classical music further and further. It has pushed repertoire boundaries, launched pedagogical initiatives, explored new concert formats and appeared at world concert halls including the Musikverein in Vienna.
