ABOUT

Mina is internationally active as chamber musician, soloist and improviser; highly focused on – and with passionate engagement in – chamber music, contemporary repertoire and performance.

Mina has studied viola with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London as well as with Claus Myrup at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Aarhus, wherefrom she received her masters degree in 2004 and an advanced postgraduate diploma of soloistic performance in 2007. During the years 2011-2013 Mina studied Free Improvisation with Fred Frith and Alfred Zimmerlin at Hochschule für Musik in Basel, where she received a specialized masters degree of the subject in 2013.

She is currently co-leader of the viola section of the Danish Chamber Orchestra. She is also solo violist of Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, and a frequent guest at numerous chambermusic and contemporary music festivals in Scandinavia and Europe. Mina is teaching viola at Orkester Norden’s summer courses in Lahti and is regularly coaching workshops in free improvisation.

The viola Mina plays is an instrument built by Hiroshi Iizuka in 2004.
