Very active as as chamber musician, improvisor and solo performer, Mina is performing internationally, to a big extent with focus on – and with passionate engagement in – contemporary performance and repertoire.
Born in Sweden, Mina Fred has studied viola with David Takeno at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and with Claus Myrup at the Royal Conservatory of Music, Århus, Denmark, where she graduated with a Masters Degree in solo performace in 2007. In 2013 she furthermore got her diploma as Master of Free Improvisation, through studies with Fred Frith and Alfred Zimmerlin in Basel.
Mina is a stable member of Danish ensembles Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, Scenatet ensemble for contemporary performance and Snowmask Ensemble, as well as the two Switzerland based improvisation groups Trio Lost Frequency and The Stone Orchestra.
Other recent corporations include Norwegian Oslo Sinfonietta and the two Danish quartets Mira Kvartetten and Messer Kvartetten.
Since 2004, Mina is responsible for the concert season at Kirsten Kjærs Museum, Denmark, where she yearly organizes 30 concerts.
